"The head of Al Qaeda is calling on Muslims across the Arab world and beyond to support rebels in Syria who are seeking to overthrow President Bashar Assad, and says they cannot depend on the West for help."

Clearly President Obama & Senator McCain appear to share the Al Qaeda's determination to help the rebels and force Assad out. The big question is why? Why would our own government wish to give aid to any group that is supported by Al Qaeda?
