Legislative Update: HB 227 Keeping our children safe from sexual predators

H 227 is being sponsored by State Representative Faber. Designed to help keep our children safe from sexual predators, HB 227 could help to keep some of those who are the most dangerous and most likely to commit this type of crime again confined as they continue their rehabilitation. This bill would also mandate that certain sexually violent predators who are released be tracked through a GPS (Global Positioning System). The bill has been assigned to the Criminal Justice Committee. Two hearings have been held and further action is expected this fall.
