The Attacks On Tebow's Faith |
|
|
|
|
In God We Trust
|
|
Theresa Fleming, Editorial "Blessed are you when people insult you,
persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of
me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in
the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. " Jesus
Christ Sadly, whether the victim is Tebow or another
person of Christian faith, attacking those who follow Christ is growing
both in America, ...and through out the world. One has only to
consider the number of wife beaters, dog killers, drug addicts and
drunks that allegedly play football to see just how ridiculous the
attacks on Tebow really are. Shouldn't the NFL and the media be glad to
see such a decent person, devoted to faith, family and service to
others doing well in football? One would think they would be happy for
such a wonderful role model.
And yet, the outcry and
criticisms against Tebow's prayers are far louder than the outcries
against of those who have done drugs, beat their wives....As a nation,
we should be asking some really tough questions about the media's
coverage of Tebow...
As for the constant attacks on
Tebow for his faith in Jesus; they are not sad for Tebow, for Tebow more
than anyone knows just how much Jesus loves him. But they are an
incredibly sad statement about the state of the hearts of so many who
now live in our country. And that is incredibly sad indeed.
Our
nation has always been a nation of faith. We have loved God, and loved
each other. Today, a choice lies before each of us. We can choose
faith and hope and life. Or we can choose anger and meaness and
ultimately the loss of all that is good and right. Tebow has made his choice. The question that remains is-will we have the courage to do the same? |

Chanukah-"The Festival of Lights" By Theresa Fleming As we
prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus, there's another
celebration that is also approaching and that's the Celebration of
Chanukah. Now some might wonder why I, a person of Christian faith
would want to include the story of Chanukah in a letter about
Christmas. The answer lies partly in that as a person of Christian
faith, I have a deep and profound respect for the place that those of
Jewish faith hold in God's heart, for they have always been, and will
always be God's Chosen People, and He loves them. And partly, because
as a Christian I think it's important to learn about all of
God's miracles, and Chanukah is without a doubt, one of God's very
special miracles. As
the story has been told to me, about 2,200 years ago one of the
Greco-Syrian King's Antiochus Epiphanes, forbade the Jewish people from
"praying to their God, practicing their customs and studying their
Torah".
One day, Judah Maccabee and his four brothers decided to form a
group of resistance fighters. The Maccabee's were a small group of
incredibly brave men who had a faith in God that was bigger than all
the Greco-Syrian armies combined. And although the odds seemed
overwhelmingly against them, through sheer guts, determination and an
unwavering faith in God, they fought for and successfully reclaimed the
Holy Temple in Jerusalem. When they arrived at the Temple, there was
only enough purified oil to light a lamp for one night, but through
God's miraculous grace, the lamp stayed lit for 8 days. And the Holy
Temple once again became a place where God was worshiped and
honored. This is what the Celebration of Chanukah is really about. And
in a time when so many of us struggle to have faith in God and to
believe in the power of His miraculous grace, I am grateful to be able
to learn from the courageous example of these brave and faithful men. |

New York High School Students Reportedly Suspended for 'Tebowing' |

From Fox News:
"It was basically just a tribute to Tim Tebow,”
said Carroll Connor, 17, who planned the prank with his brother and
friends. “It was more than a religious thing. There was some of that
involved obviously, because he prays. I guess it was basically like a
moment of silence."

My Friends, praise God -- you can't be separated! |
|
|
|
|
In God We Trust
|
Romans 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ?
Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or
peril, or sword?
One of His greatest promises to us is that
nothing can separate us from the love of God. No tribulation or
distress we might ever suffer can obliterate the power of His love to
carry us through!
This tells me so clearly that I cannot read God's love for me by
my circumstances alone, and that's often my greatest temptation: "How could
a loving God allow this to happen to me?" But the Lord never promised we
would escape hardship, persecution, poverty or danger -- (in fact, He
promised the opposite); the promise is that His love for us
would be greater than any and all circumstances we might have to
endure. Consider the life of Yeshua (Jesus). He went to the cross and died
an excruciating death -- He didn't escape difficulties -- He
experienced them more than anyone could ever imagine! So, allow His death
to settle any questions you have about the love of God!
My Friends, don't ever judge God's love
for you based on circumstances alone, but rather evaluate your
circumstances from God's point of view: Love. It's His main motive for
everything that happens to you.
Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

My Friend, Avoid The Mines! |
|
|
|
|
In God We Trust
|
John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it
is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I
will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in
me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can
do nothing.

In a documentary mini series called "Against All Odds"
a remarkable story is told about an Israeli platoon who found themselves in
the midst of a minefield along the Syrian border during the Yom Kippur War.
When the platoon realized they were in a minefield they pulled out their
bayonets and started to dig out mines and to disarm them. Suddenly, a
fierce wind began to blow, removing the sand from the minefield. Each and
every mine was exposed and the soldiers ventured through the minefield
unscathed.
If you found yourself in the midst of a minefield, but had
someone with you that knew where every mine was and could guide you
through, then you'd be sure to stay as close to him as possible! My friend,
life is a minefield; and the enemy has planted mines allacross your
path -- the mines of temptation! You have Someone with you who knows where
they are and how to guide you around them. But how closely are you walking
with Him?
God's word and His Spirit equip us thoroughly for life and
godliness. Obedience to His word and abiding in His Spirit we can avoid
every deadly trap of the enemy and even if He calls us to martyrdom, we can
go joyfully in His power.
But in the meantime my friends, let's not
ignore the presence and counsel of our Heavenly Guide. It's too easy to
become distracted by fears, entertainments, and even real responsibilities.
But all these can pull us away from Him....so that
we suddenly find our foot on a mine about to explode under us. The
discipline of practicing His presence was never more important than it is
now in these last of the last days. The Bible warns that "because iniquity
abounds, the love of many shall wax cold!" Let us stay awake, fully
conscious of our Helper's presence. Led of His Spirit we will dodge every
one of our enemy’s mines, and navigate both ourselves and others to
safety, bearing fruit all along the way!

In God We Trust

There can be no doubt that we are facing some very tough times. Homelessness is on the rise, often including entire families. Food has been skyrocketing in price, despite Washington's claims to the contrary and the housing market is now not expected to recover until 2020. With American families making less and less, the amount of money needed just to obtain a place to live, food and medical care has continued to arise astronomically with many paying more for insurance, medical and dental care than they do for their housing.
But while the challenges and worries we face have changed, where our hope is has always remained the same.
Chuck Colson once said, "Where is the hope? "Where is the hope? I meet millions of people who feel demoralized by the decay around us. The hope that each of us has is not in who governs us, or what laws we pass, or what great things we do as a nation. Our hope is in the power of God working through the hearts of people. And that's where our hope is in this country. And that's where our hope is in life."
And that is a Hope that no government, no nation and no power on this earth can take from us. It can not be foreclosed on. And we can't loose it like we can loose a job. And that Hope, that faith in God, it is the one thing that the more we share it, the more it grows.
So while the times we live in are going to get a lot more difficult, the one thing we need to hold onto is our faith. Because if we hold onto our faith and the hope that it gives, there is absolutely no challenge we can not meet.
May God Bless you all, each and everyone,
In God We Trust,

A Special Prayer For All Those In The Path of Hurricane Irene... |
|
|
|
|
In God We Trust
|
May we love God, and love each other, as we were born to do. And may we remember that Jesus will never, ever leave our side.
May we remember that courage is not the absence of fear, but the facing of it. And May The Holy Spirit give us comfort and peace-so that we might share it with another.
May we know that our Lord hears our ever thought, unspoken and spoken. And He loves us. And may we know that Jesus hears our every fear, and He understands. Just as He knows our every weaknesses and failure, and yet He always, always forgives us.
May we remember that regardless of race, religion or any of the many other ways we divide ourselves, God loves every single human being. And may we, as followers of Christ, share all that we have and serve God and serve God's people-All of them.
And may our Lord give special comfort both to all those serving in our police and fire departments, and to their families. For many of them will face the storm alone, so that their husbands and wives can work to keep us safe.

In The Face Of Hurricane Irene: My Prayer For You |
|
|
|
|
In God We Trust
|
May The Holy Spirit give you comfort and peace-so that you might share it with another. May you remember that courage is not the absence of fear, but the facing of it May you love God, and love each other, as we were born to do. And may you remember that Jesus will never, ever leave your side
May you know that our Lord hears your ever thought, unspoken and spoken. And He loves you. He knows your every fear, and He understands. And He knows your weaknesses and your failures, and He forgives you
With over 65 million men, women and children in the path of Hurricane
Irene, millions are praying that our Lord will protect them in the
coming days. And that is a good thing, for we can do all things through
Christ who strengthens us. And while it's easy in times like these to
be worried, our Lord will never let us down. For no matter what occurs
in the coming days, Jesus will not move. Just as our Lord was in the
Twin Towers when they came down, He will also be in every home, with
every person who asks Him to come.
The question for us is not, "What will Jesus do",we know what Jesus will
do. He will stand right next to us, every second, loving us as only He
can. The real question, the one that matters is - what will we do?
Will we, as Christians, be the ones who help our neighbors, share our
water, and read to the little ones. Will we call upon the Holy Spirit
to give us comfort and peace so that we might share it with others as we
go through this storm together.
Or will we be the ones who hoard food and water and anything else we can find?
From North Carolina through New York to Boston, 65 million men, women
and children will face one of the worst storms ever and perhaps one of
the longest nights.
Hurricane Irene will perhaps bring tragedy and suffering, but it's up to
each of us if it also brings us all closer to each other and closer to
our Lord.
So this time, in this moment, more than all else, I pray that no matter
the strength of the storm, our faith and our love for God and each other
will be stronger. And that we will, each one of us, be able to look
back and know, we did all that we could do. |

“I’ve spent the last few years
trying to find solutions for what is happening in the world,” he said on the
backdrop of the pillars of the grand stage. “While there may not be a political
solution, the good news is the God of Abraham ain’t running for office,” he said
to loud applause. “Be not afraid, know who he is, know his face, know that he is
a God of covenants and miracles. We are leaving the age of man-made miracles of
spacecraft, and we are entering the age of the miracles of God.”

Governor Rick Perry's Prayer For Our Nation |
|
|
|
|
In God We Trust
|
"Lord, You are the source of every good thing, You are our only hope. And we stand before You today in awe of your power, and in gratitude for Your blessings; in humility for our sins.
Father, our heart breaks for America. We see discord at home. We see fear in the marketplace. We see anger in the halls of government. And as a nation we have forgotten Who made us, Who protects us, Who blesses us, and for that we cry out for Your forgiveness.
We pray for our nation’s leaders, Lord -- for parents, for pastors, for the generals, for governors -- that You would inspire them in these difficult times. Father, we pray for our president, that You would impart Your wisdom upon him, that You would guard his family. We pray for our military and the families who love them. Father, especially for those special operators who lost their life yesterday in defending our freedoms.
You call us to repent, Lord, and this day is our response. We give it all to You. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen and amen."
